A complete physical commodities platform Simplified & Live International Trade
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that about 795 million people of the 7.3 billion people in the world, or one in nine, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2014-2016. Almost all the hungry people, 780 million, live in developing countries, representing 12.9 percent, or one in eight, of the population of developing countries. There are 11 million people undernourished in developed countries.
The world produces enough food to feed everyone. A principal problem is that many people in the world still do not have sufficient income to purchase (or land to grow) enough food or access to nutritious food. This is an element of “food access”. The FAO defines four dimensions of food security, all of which must be fulfilled simultaneously, for food security to exist. The four dimensions are: 1) physical availability of food, 2) economic and physical access to food, 3) food utilization, and 4) the stability of those other dimensions over time.
SoOum's mission, "addressing shortages and minimizing scarcity", addresses all of these issues by:
*Contributing to hunger alleviating charities that combat the lack of access to food caused by economic shortages.
*Encouraging commodities trade in and out of developing nations in order to solve the physical availability and utilization issues.
SoOum is giving you something here; an opportunity to build your business, provide a service and, most importantly, aid in addressing shortages and minimizing scarcity. You, the members, own this. All you have to do is jump in!
